Photo exhibit: Ahtziri's photo exhibit
On February 23rd, during the inauguration of the Peace Plaza at the Guadalajara campus of the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), former student Ahtziri Gonzalez presented a photo exhibit on her travels through 50 countries, linking each photograph with a different field of work for International Affairs professionals and providing a new approach to culture of peace through visual materials.

According to Ahtziri, photography is an artistic representation of our reality. In her own words: “The captured images are a subjective expression of the world that show us different aspects of life and make us aware of certain things that otherwise we would probably never notice. This includes peace and conflict. Some photographs have the power of making us analyze human behavior and to reach a deep understanding of our nature. Photography promotes questioning and rationality, processes that eventually help to build a more harmonious society”. For her, International Relations is an amazing field of study because it combines many disciplines, allowing its professionals to work in very diverse areas that can help to improve our world.
She says that “Our whole generation has the power and responsibility of improving our society”
Ahtziri is a 22 year-old Mexican born global citizen. She holds a BA in International Relations from ITESM. During her studies, she participated in exchange programs in Morocco, Singapore and Ghana. She has also studied Arabic in Egypt, volunteered in the West Bank, and attended a young leaders conference in Pakistan. Her professional experience has been focused in the non-profit sector, where she has collaborated with Children International Mexico, BRAC in Bangladesh, and EduCARE in India. She recently moved to Mexico City to work for a social enterprise in the education sector.
Ahtziri describes herself as outgoing, nomad, dreamer, critical and idealist . She calls youth to engage in community projects and become agents of change.
