Pepén I am pleased to send you information about our latest activity in relation to the culture of peace: New graduates of the course "Developing a Culture of Peace from the Letter of Peace" at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra. Campus Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Students from the faculties of Administration, Architecture and Environmental Science, during the semester from January to May, 2012 as seen on the last day of this new edition of the course. click on photo to enlarge In this new course on "Developing a Culture of Peace, from the Letter of Peace" (www.cartadelapaz.org) students participated from the faculties of Administration, Architecture, and a career that has not previously included this subject in their curriculum, Environmental and Ecological Science. The course had a good atmosphere of participation and reflection with the sole aim of raising awareness of the need to build peace among all, and 'awareness' that each of us, and as communities, we can do much for peace, knowing that it requires dedication, effort, and changes in attitudes and work. In September 2007, the Peace Institute of Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), adopted the name of John F. Pepén (1920-2007) as a memorial to this great Dominican, known for his integrity, good exemple, solidarity and strong religious conviction. Throughout his life of priestly commitment he defended the dignity of man, worked for the development of individuals and the common good. As a catholic bishop he was known as a man of courage and a constructor of peace in our country.
