Children's Peace Statue finds a new home
un articulo por Marcos Estrada

The Children's Peace Statue, created by The New Mexico Kids Committee as a gift to the City of Los Alamos in 1995, was refused by their City/County Council, first in 1995, and again in 2001. It is the first and only International Peace Statue created by children. Over 90,000 children participated in its creation from all 50 states and 63 countries.

Before and After

After it was refused by Los Alamos, the Statue was honored at the Albuquerque Museum for a year until Plaza Resolana, (later known as Ghost Ranch of Santa Fe), offered it a haven in Santa Fe. It has remained there for 15 years, an inspiration for children to create a peaceful world. Literally hundreds of thousands of peace cranes have been sent by individual children, by schools, libraries, churches, and elders from across the world to adorn it and empower its intent. Now that the Ghost Ranch property is for sale, it has found a fabulous new home at the Santa Fe Children's Museum, where it will enjoy even greater visibility for children to be inspired by the beauty of its message and hang their origami cranes for peace.

It moved on again on Tuesday, February 7th, and is arrived at the Children's Museum around 11:00am. The entire community was invited to witness and celebrate its introduction to a new nest at the Children's Museum.
