Nelma Sá da Silva, general coordinator of the festival, says that the goal of the program is to
bring attractions to help people find a way to compensate for the stress of the day. "Once you discover that simple activities can bring equilibrium, you seek to find it more often during the crazy week, "she said.
Nelma stressed that the festival presents peace in terms of the practical actions of everyday life. "Peace begins with me. No use going around saying that the other person needs to have peace, "she added.
In addition to São Paulo, another 18 Brazilian states as well as countries such as France, Portugal, Argentina, Mexico, Ecuador and England receive the festival. This is the third edition of the event, which took place in Florianópolis in 2006, with 15 thousand people, and Goiânia with 12 000 participants in 2009. This year, the organization of the festival, which is organized by the International University of Peace (Unipaz), expects to receive 200 thousand people until Sunday.
According to Eduardo Shiguematsu, chairman of Unipaz of Campinas, a banner with thousands of pieces of fabric with peace messages produced by participants in the festival will be sewn up Sunday. "It symbolizes the union of peace that each of us contains," said Shiguematsu.
