Spanish Singers Andy and Lucas Promote Peace at the United Nations

The Spanish musical duo Andy and Lucas sang today (July 26) for peace at UN headquarters sponsored by the Foundation Culture of Peace School, an association that promotes the message that the education of youth is the key to ending violence in the world.

"A song can not defeat a tank, but it can change the soul of the soldier who was driving it," the singer, Lucas Gonzalez, told EFE, referring to the power of music to spread peace in the world, the purpose for which the foundation Spanish Culture of Peace School has been working for a decade.
The organization, which has involved more than 2,000 teachers and 22,000 young people, brought 50 of its members to the UN today to share with the international organization the conclusions from its work in the course of building peace.
The singers from Cadiz, Andrés Morales and Lucas González, better known as Andy and Lucas, performed a song especially composed for the occasion, becoming the first Spanish artists to work in the framework of the UN, which was described as " privileged ".
"We bring the feeling of solidarity to all countries and places we have visited, solidarity not just for a Christmas card, but all year," said Gonzalez, who added that he would be "delighted" if the UN would appoint them ambassadors, as usually done with other artists.
For his part, Morales told Efe that "different types of music can reach the hearts of people and convey the message of each of our themes, such as this song, which is about culture and peace" .
About this song, Gonzalez said it "has a catchy chorus and lyrics that sustain solidarity throughout. It is appropriate for the Culture of Peace School, which works especially through music and sports" . . . He added that world peace "can be achieved if people help each other and get rid of war and hunger," and that music serves to "instill a sensitivity that we need to transmit to our political leaders to make them aware. "
For her part, the president of the Foundation Culture of Peace School, Trinidad Lorenzo, said that it is most important to "involve young people, because they are the present and future, through education ".
The permanent ambassador of Spain to the UN, Fernando Arias, said that "peace contributes to economic and human development and freedom, and without it, we will doomed to catastrophe" . . .
