Eco Cidadão commemorates the International Day of Peace

The program Eco Cidadão commemorated the International Day of the Peace this year with a workshop “Tree of the Peace” for pupils of the School Neusa Brizola. The activities were carried out by the students of the Municipal School Neusa Brizola and were dedicated to the culture of peace and the Day of the Tree.

The children constructed together the Tree of the Peace, with drawings, words and symbols that express the idea of peace and environmental conservtion.
The objective was to promote the values of the culture of peace so that it is possible to learn to create and to develop the conscience of peace and unity with ourselves, with others and the planet, through universal respect and care for the community, solidarity, respect to the diversity, tolerance, human rights and democracy.
The Tree that they made is displayed in the school, with the objective to promote ecological values and education for peace. In the year of 2010, the pupils and other participants of the initiative had celebrated this date, constructing the “Planetary Flag of Peace."
According to the coordinator of the Program, Eco Cidadão, Marielza Horta, “the thematic workshop is intended to contribute to the promotion of harmonious coexistence between the participants, for prevention and peaceful resolution of conflicts, for the respect of differences, for civic generosity, and conservation of the environment where we live. The Tree of
Peace is a reflection of the thoughts and aspirations of the groups that are involved.”
This action is part of the project "To cultivate plants to cultivate peace," implemented in 2006 by the Program, Eco Cidadão, which has received international recognition and prizes. The initiative partners with the City Hall of Macaé, Purac Syntheses, Foundation Ruaf IPES, IDRC, Project Smiles Macaé, Open University of Porto - Department of Sciences and Technology and ONU-Habitat

D'ailleurs par rapport au climat , aujourd hui 11 Décembre est notre journée locale de l'arbre (pour le climat et la culture).
Nous avons planté des arbres fruitiers pour faire revivre nos traditions (notre culture) qui voulaient que la retraite des paysans s'assurait par les arbres fruitiers. Aussi la plante de MURINGA pour symboliser les plantes médicinales et fin une espéce sauvage d'arbre dont les feuilles sont mangées par les chenilles (comestibles à l homme).
C'est 2 ans que nous organisons cette journée et nous faisons des émissions à la radio et TV pour la vulgarisation de cette culture de la paix (manger, planter pour le générations futures et le climat du monde entier)

With regards to climate change, today December 11 is our local "day of the tree" (for our climate and our culture). We have planted fruit trees to revive our traditions (our culture), to assure with fruit trees the retirement of our local farmers . Also the planting of MURINGA to symbolize medicinal plants, a wild species of tree whose leaves are food for caterpillars that we can eat.
