Please join us on Thursday, September 18, 2008 for the Fourth Annual Agape Foundation Peace Prize in
celebration of the U.N. declared International Day of Peace. Come join us for a wine and hors
d'oeuvre reception as we award prizes to established and emerging Northern California Peacemakers. The Enduring Visionary Prize will honor a peacemaker who has made a sustained effort to create peace in their community, nationally, or internationally. The Rising Peacemaker Prize will honor a new peacemaker who has made a critical difference toward progressive change within the last five years. The winner of the prize will be announced at the event.
The 2008 Enduring Visionary Prize Winner is Madeline Taylor Duckles, who has given 60 years of her life to world disarmament, full rights for women, racial and economic justice, and an end to all forms of violence.
The 2008 Rising Peacemaker Prize Winner Finalists are:
Rachel Abileah, national organizer with Code Pink.
Roni Krouzman, a grassroots activist and educator who directs Next Generation, inspiring young
people and communities to work for peace.
Elizabeth Sy, the founder of Banteay Srei, a non-judgmental youth development organization of youngSoutheast Asian women who are at risk of or engaged in sex work.
