New UPEACE Alumni Network Website
un articulo por Nick Martin

The United Nations mandated University for Peace (UPEACE) in coordination with the U.S. Association for the University for Peace (UPEACE/US) announces the launch of the new UPEACE alumni website: www.upeacebuilders.org.

With over 600 alums from more than 85 countries, the UPEACE alumni community represents one of the most diverse and close-knit networks in the world today. From human rights lawyers in Sierra Leone to aid workers in Afghanistan, from Peace and Conflict Studies professors in Uganda to environmental economists in Peru, each UPEACE graduate actively and innovatively works for peace in its many manifestations.

Upeacebuilders is a virtual human network designed to connect UPEACE alumni and launch innovative initiatives in concert with like-minded individuals and organizations. The site represents the collaborative efforts of over 20 alums and staff members over the course of the past year. It is still in its beta "testing" phase so we are counting on feedback to strengthen it in the months to come.

Upeacebuilders has a number of key features including an interactive world map that allows visitors to quickly find where alumni are and what they are doing professionally. It also features headlines and articles about activities from across the network as well as career resources and multimedia resources.

Whether you are a perspective student, a potential partner, an interested employer, or simply a friend of the university, we encourage you to engage our network and explore opportunities for involvement. For more information about UPEACE alumni activities contact the Executive Director of UPEACE/US Nick Martin '06 at nmartin@upeace.org or simply come visit us at www.upeacebuilders.org!

Yes! Youth can and does make a difference, if given the opportunity.

In all of our inter-action on Peace youth played a very important role.

Million Minutes of Peace: Signing of the Manifesto initiative, more than 900 signature were submitted by us.

In 2001 at 1pm. we had a young man of 10 lead the City Officials in the First Steps into the International Decade of Peace 2001 -2010

Every year on September 21st an activity led by youth is held, the last two years we planted trees in memory of those who lost their lives to natural disasters, or participated in a walk led by the Minister of Education with many schools involved.

Yes! Youth can and does play a very important role in the promotion of peace.
