Sanaa to host international youth peace conference

Sanaa will host an international conference on youth and peace from December 21st to 24th which will include participants from more than 20 countries, organisers told Al-Shorfa.

The International Conference on Youth and Peace, which aims to promote a culture of peace and moderation, is being organised by the Asian Youth Council, the Yemen Youth General Union and the Yemen Ministry of Youth and Sports.
"The conference aims to promote an integrated approach to educating young people about moderation and creating and promoting a culture of peace," said Minister of Youth and Sports Muammar al-Eryani, who also serves as president of the Yemen Youth General Union.
"It also seeks to create awareness among youth organisations on how to promote moderation in the world, the concept of democracy, and to educate young leaders on the best approach for moderation as a way to change the world," he said.
Al-Eryani met with Asian Youth Council president Mohammed Khair in Sanaa in September to discuss preparations for the conference.
During the meeting, Khair said members of the council and a number of experts will present papers on peace, youth and how to promote peace between peoples in light of religious diversity.
He added that all religions support peace, and that war is not the way for people to achieve an equitable and dignified life.
The two parties also discussed support the Yemeni government could provide to ensure the success of conference events and activities, and the steps needed to issue recommendations that serve the cause of peace.
Conference participants will discuss the Yemeni experience in peaceful change based on partnership -- the national dialogue, the role of moderate youth organisations in social and political reform, the challenges faced by moderate youth, the dialogue of civilisations and their role in reform and development, and the Asian Youth Council's strategic vision for youth and moderation as a way to change the world, al-Eryani said.
"The conference seeks to strengthen the relationship among youth participants and share their ideas through discussions," he said.
The Yemen Youth General Union is organising housing, transportation and the conference venue, while the Asian Youth Council is receiving applications from participants, conference preparatory committee member Hussein al-Ahmad told Al-Shorfa.
Al-Ahmad said the importance of the conference is in "making moderation and peace the only approach for young people because moderation should be the only solution for our problems".
He pointed to Yemen's adoption of dialogue as a way to address its issues, saying "moderation must be our way to deal with others in everything and avoid extremism, whether in religion or in everyday life".
Participants will be youth leaders, government and private sector employees, NGO members and youth activists, said "Sport" editor-in-chief Fouad Qassem, who serves as an adviser to the Minister of Youth and Sports.
Invitations also have been sent to youth organisations from Africa, the US and Europe, he told Al-Shorfa.
"We expect significant interaction in the conference, which speaks the language of peace and moderation, a language lost in some societies, so we must work to promote this culture among young people because they represent the present and future of the nation," he said.

This trans-dimensional perspective has a deep ecological and spiritual sense for our worldview because the human evolutionary adventure is the latest stage of life on Earth. In recent centuries he has imposed its anthropocentric, industrial and capitalist vision to the detriment of Pachamama (and Indigenous goddess known as earth mother).
