Global Feast for Peace - September 21
un articulo por J. Frederick Arment, President and Executive Director of International Cities of Peace

International Cities of Peace (ICP) has launched the Global Feast for Peace initiative in coordination with the Peace Cities Team for International Day of Peace. The goal is to have 30 cities around the world participating with a local Global Feast, some of which will be LiveStream broadcast through a special PeaceDayTV channel reserved for these Feasts on the annual United Nations sponsored International Day of Peace, September 21.

As the representative for International Cities of Peace to the NGO working with the United Nations on International Day of Peace, I am pleased that the Global Feast for Peace has been welcomed with open arms by many global partners. The idea for this "Thanksgiving" for peace is to make the "Reflection, Education, and Celebration" of International Day of Peace accessible to everyone, including singles, families, neighborhoods, and larger communities. It will be the first time in history that the entire world will have the opportunity to sit down together and break bread in celebration and contemplation of peace. Seek Unity! Build Bridges! Celebrate Peace! Please support this initiative in your community.

Here is how to participate:

• Sponsor a Global Feast for Peace in your home or community.

• Option: Arrange to film the event. It can be as simple as an iPhone uplink (we'll work with you on technology). PeaceDay TV will broadcast our Global Feasts to the world on Sept. 21st

* Post here on Facebook if you are planning a small, medium or large pot luck, or simply sharing peace desert with friends and family.

It is difficult to find extensive listings of the many events celebrating the International Day of Peace around the world.  An exception is the United Religions Initiative which lists events for the IDP 2014 by their affiliates in Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria, Nepal, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bulgaria, Russia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, United States and the Philippines.
