un article par Agência Alagoas

More than 200 college students from Cesmac and from the project "Faculty of the Third Age of Facima" took part on Friday in the theoretical part of the training course for agents of peace, sponsored by the State Secretariat for the Promotion of Peace (SEPAZ) . The classes took place in the auditorium of the House of Industry, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. For the first time, they were presented the topic "Introduction to Conflict Mediation".

The content is focused on the theme of Culture of Peace and Non-violence: education of the emotions, dialogue to promote peace, how violence can be reduced or prevented, among others. In the class, the issue of conflict mediation was also addressed , since the students are good learners and can help form public opinion.

For the Secretary of Peace Promotion, Jardel Aderico, they are the ideal audience to propagate the idea of a culture of peace. "We all want peace, but few are willing to work for it. You are young, full of energy and ready to defend and work for that ideal culture of peace," he said.

One of the young people who most encouraged with the statement of the secretary was Elba Cavalcante, 72 years old, a student of the Facima class. A widow, she began the course for the Third Age at the suggestion of her daughter and she does not intend to stop. "I stopped for a while because I had to travel, but I can't stay away. It is very Interesting all these new ideas we are learning now. These are things that we can do just by talking with friends and family," said Elba.

One of the roles of Agents of Peace is just the diffusion of this knowledge, as stressed by the superintendent for the Promotion of Culture of Peace at SEPAZ, Adalberon Sá Junior. "You must practice what we have learned here, sharing the message of the culture of peace to everyone in our daily lives. If we do, we will certainly take the message of the culture of peace to all corners of Alagoas. "

Training continues next week, on December 19 and 20, when the group reconvenes in Facima for discussion groups and the experience of dialogue practice. Graduation will take place on December 21.

Among the instructors of this course were Captain Rego Iran from the Crisis Management Center of the Military Police, who spoke on conflict mediation, and Geraldo Majella, superintendent of Human Rights of the Ministry of Women, Citizenship and Human Rights, who spoke about the context of violence in Alagoas.
