Togo Parliamentarians on Mission of Demining Future Conflicts

A tour of parliamentarians to raise awareness of the culture of peace and non-violence started Friday and ends on October 3.

The deputies, along with members of civil society, are visiting thirty localities to meet with people.

This initiative is part of the capacity building work of the National Assembly for crisis prevention. The project has been funded by UNDP since 2011.

In Togo, there are many levels of conflict: social, environmental, economic and political. This was revealed by a survey conducted last year.

With the approach of parliamentary and local elections, the mission by elected officials is meant to defuse possible disagreements and misunderstandings by encouraging dialogue and mutual understanding
