Project for an International Festival of Marionettes
un article par Michel Thouzeau

The "culture of peace" working group of non-governmental organizations at UNESCO (Paris, France), has proposed an international festival of marionettes to take place next year for the International Day of Peace (September 21, 2013).

The invitation is extended to youth and amateurs as well as professionals throughout the world to create marionettes and a show of 15 minutes or less on the theme of peace in the broad sense as defined by the eight points of the UN Decade for the Culture of Peace 2001-2010. The eight points are peace education, sustainable development, human rights, equality of women, democratic participation, tolerance and solidarity, free flow of information and international peace and security.

For further information, please contact Michel Thouzeau, the president of the working group, who will send you both the original project, as well as other more recent additions. If you wish to be a partner in the initiative, please respond quickly. And if you know Marionette makers or players, please send us their contact information.

Commentaire le plus récent:

Yes, the arts do create a basis for a culture of peace.
The question I would raise is where are the visual artists who have produced a Guernica like painting of Felluja? Paintings last longer than photographs which are too often fleeting.
Do the poets against the war meet annually?
I caught a bit of an interesting tv show which featured world class artists such as Wole Soyinka speaking in Israel/Palestine about ways to further the peace movement there. Did anyone else see the entire show?
I hope a local Peace Day could emulate the UN opening ceremony .
