	National Reconciliation in Côte d’Ivoire: Artists Sing for Peace un article par Napargalè Marie, abidjan.net Ivoirian and international artists have united their voices for reconciliation and peace in Côte d’Ivoire. By means of three well-made recordings produced by David Monsoh and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Tiken Jah, Ismaël Isaac, Billy Billy, Papa Wemba, Ophélie Winter, Monique Séka etc. have invited Ivoirians to turn the page on the post-election problems. Friday, February 10, at the conference room of the Foreign Minister, these musical productions were presented to the Ministries of Employment and Social Affairs, of Culture and Francophonie, and of Communication. Tiken Jah - © Autre presse par DR click on photo to enlarge According to the Resident Representative of the United Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, Ndolamb Ngokwey, this music will help to mobilize the communities to overcome the negative impact of the conflicts. "This project is a way to assure the visibility of the United Nations in the promotion of the message of peace. It targets youth throughout Côte d’Ivoire and calls for peaceful relations among communities," he explained. The minister of Culture and Francophonie, Bandaman Maurice, complimented this initiative of artists for a culture of peace. While regretting the impoverished life of artists who no longer gain a living because of the pirating of their CDs, Bandaman Maurice requested the help of the United Nations system to combat the pirting of musical works. In his turn, Gilbert Koné Kanfana, the Minister of Employment and Social Affairs, gave recognition to these works of art that promote peace and reconciliation in Côte d’Ivoire.
