Launch of the website Discover Peace in Europe

In the context of the project " Discover Peace in
Europe "in which the Coordination participates,
"peace walks" are being developed in seven
European cities, including Paris. They allow one
to discover - or rediscover - the culture of peace
and non -violence in our cities.

The website
www.discoverpeace.eu has just been launched
to present the peace walks and invite visitors to
follow them .

Since 2012 , the Coordination is engaged in a new
European partnership within the Grundtvig Programme.
Funded by the European Commission , the aim of this
program is to promote adult education in the Union.
The new project , entitled "Discover Peace in
Europe" aims to establish paths of peace in 7
European cities: Berlin , Budapest , The Hague ,
Manchester, Paris , Turin and Vienna .
From 12 to 15 July 2013 , the partner
organizations met in Paris to take stock of
progress during the the months since the beginning
of the project and determine the next steps. A
half day was devoted to the peace walk, which was
very much appreciated and has received numerous
favorable comments from the partners .
The course will soon be available on the Internet.
On the pleasant guided walk, participants discover
the presence of peace in Paris. Stay tuned in!
The Coordination has so far developed 5 peace
walks in Paris, each achievable on a half-day ,
with a total of about 40 stops that are
significant fo non-violence and peace. The
finishing touches on these peace walks will be
completed in March 2013, before moving on to the
editing phase of the project.
As part of the Grundtvig project, the Coordination
will travel to Turin in May 2013 to meet the various
European partners in the program before hosting a
meeting in Paris during the summer.

International Cities of Peace, an association of global cities of peace, is using the U.N. Culture of Peace tenets as the guideline for forming initiatives. To date, thirty-one cities are part of the association. Some are grassroots organizations, others have the firm commitment by resolution or proclamation from the city council.
