Rawan Eghbariah, Palestine
Rawan works with New Profile, a volunteer grassroots
organization committed to reforming Israel from a
soldier state to an active peacemaking society.

Annie Nushann, Liberia
Annie, also known as “Ma Annie”, is the catalyst
behind Peace Hut, a community led initiative in
Totota, Bong County, Liberia. The initiative
empowers women by educating them on their rights
and mobilizing them in violence prevention and
peacebuilding. Annie is a fearless women’s rights
activist.

Jasna Bastic, Former Yugoslavia/
Switzerland
Jasna works with Peace Boat, an organization
working to promote non-violent conflict resolution
and justice aboard a chartered passenger ship that
travels the world on peace voyages.

Tinda Sebe-Sikaneta, Canada
Tinda is a community organizer advocating to stop
Energy East, a proposed TransCanada pipeline that
would pass through Ottawa, Canada.

Mi Kun Chan Non, Burma
Mi Kun is the Vice Chairwoman of the Mon Women’s
Organization (MWO), and is an avid advocate for
women’s participation in peace processes. Mi Kun
works to empower Burmese women through information
sharing and skills development.

Apuk Mayen, South Sudan
Apuk is a senior diplomat from South Sudan working
to increase women’s participation in formal peace
processes between Sudan and South Sudan. Yet, Apuk
is an activist at heart.

Rebecca Chiao, Egypt
Rebecca is the co-founder of HarassMap, an
organization committed to converting the streets of
Egypt into a safe space for all women.

Cindy Blackstock, Canada
Cindy Blackstock is the Executive Director of the
First Nations Child & Family Caring Society
(Caring Society), an organization that empowers
First Nations children, youth and families in
Canada.

Esperance Kavira Furaha, Democratic Republic of
Congo
Esperance is a young and up-and-coming women’s
rights and peace activist from the province of
North Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Esperance works with Solidarité Féminine pour la
Paix et le Développement Intégral/ Women’s
Solidarity for Peace and Integrated Development
(SOFEPADI) to raise awareness about sexual
violence in her country and mobilize survivors to
demand justice.

Asieh Amini, Iran
Asieh is a journalist, poet and founder of the
Stop Stoning Forever Campaign. An outspoken
activist and passionate writer, Asieh is known for
challenging gender-based injustices within Iran’s
judicial system and advocating for an end to
stoning as a form of execution.
Day 15
Helen Mack, Guatemala
Helen is the founder and president of the Myrna
Mack Foundation, an organization dedicated to
challenging the culture of impunity within the
Guatemalan military and seeking justice for
survivors of human rights abuses.
Day 16
Eramithe Delva, Haiti
Eramithe is a co-founder of KOFAVIV (Komisyon Fanm
Viktim pou Viktim/ Commission on Women Victims for
Victims), an organization that works to end rape
and sexual violence in Haiti.

Once again, as they have done now each year since 2009, the Nobel Women's Initiative provides biographies of 16 women leaders involved in local action for peace and justice around the world, and in particular to stop violence against women. Last year's biographies were listed in the CPNN discussionboard.
