The World's Homeless Children: The Invisible Poor.
un article par Steven E. Handwerker Phd, DDiv
An Ancient Kashmiri Proverb states: "We have not inherited this world from our forefathers, we have borrowed it from our children." Our children are our most precious and powerful resource. There are approximately 250 million children who are homeless, adrift in the midst of various societies. They are destitute, very often diseased and extraordinarily deprived.
In 1996 I began The International Association for the Advancement of Human Welfare, a 501-c-3 not for profit organization, with the specific purpose of helping to educate and emotionally support these children worldwide as well as supporting the people who work with them. Since its inception, various projects and educational tools have been created that are available for further preview upon request. In each and every opportunity have, be it teaching/lecturing in classes or providing service through workshops and professional programs, I open the door to bring this reality to the foreground. Every day these children are in my prayers and on my mind.

Commentaire le plus récent:
Homeless children are too often forgotten when discussing homelessness. There is a common misconception about the homeless by much of society that believes that the homeless are lazy, alcholics or additcted to drugs. Homeless children are seen as misfits that have run away from home. This is just not true! There needs to be a movement to teach people that this is not true and by having this misconception, homeless children are suffering. I am very happy to see that organizations are being formed to help homeless children.
