What I've done for peace
an article by Rich Gardner

I've written a few letters to the Philadelphia Inquirer (one just published today 5/26), I wrote a series of them to my local county paper. I've taken part in the Outreach Committee for PRAWN, the Philadelphia Regional Anti-War Network while representing my church FUMCOG, the First United Methodist Church of Germantown since January.

We organized two big marches before and during the war and did a small march concerning the media's performance afterwards.

I've listed the marches I've taken part in on my own website at http://home.netcom.com/~rlg3526 and figure I've taken part in eight of them since last September.

All in all, I figure that if I get called to the Pearly Gates and The Lord asks me what I did to make the world a more peaceful place, I can say "I tried".

Rich, your story gives hope to others like me when we wonder if what we are doing makes any difference.  Maybe the most important thing for us to do is to reach out to each other and join hands so that the little bit that we do can become stronger and more effective.  Thank you.
