(Editor's note: The following analysis was provide to CPNN by Ali Mussa Mwadin, the author of the article about ZPTTA )

THIS IS THE ANSWER: Help us.

For centuries Zanzibar had been a peaceful place and its people who had different origins lived in unity and harmony. However the peace and tranquility that was a hallmark of Zanzibar was shaken when political parties were established in the late 1950s and early 1960s to fight for independence. The main political parties  were the Zanzibar Nationalist Party (ZNP) and the ASP afro shirazi  Part ( ASP ).  Despite the political misunderstanding, yet people continued to live a peaceful life.

Believe me that people were sleeping outside their houses during hot seasons, with the doors open. No one will tell you otherwise. Now our doors are all shuttered with iron bars.  All shops were left open during prayers. No shops were closed, whether day or night. People were living together, eating together. You could never ever find someone killed or even knocked down.

Now the Peace has gone. You find cases of killing, armed robbery sometimes.
We want to bring back our peaceful culture.   If our Organization will be in a position to implement our two years Project, I am confident that the coming General Election of 2015 will be more peaceful & fair.  The Project will boost the Government of National Unity (GNU) close to the Community. The people will understand it.

Zanzibar is faced with a breakdown of the cultural peace as a result of the political system.  During the elections campaign, election vote and announcements of results most of the people of Zanzibar are involved in political life directly and indirectly to secure good candidates and representatives in the House of representatives, parliaments, and local governments but many of those who are elected do not understand how to act in a multiparty system.  A multiparty system should allow the people to join together to develop ideas, suggestions, contributions, initiating associations, etc. However, the development of politics in Zanzibar is still very rough and not sufficiently peaceful.

Political Globalization tends to be destructive of traditional culture.  The globalization of political systems make the people forget traditional politics or local politics and make them decide to use the modern politics without understanding the rights and responsibility of the citizens in respect to laws, rules and regulations. The people of Zanzibar begin to shout and take abuse action under pressure by external forces and international politics which was shown in the  toward the traditional culture and distraction the peace and culture like as in 2000 and 2005 elections.  This made for political violence which affected the development of the people in Zanzibar.

There is a lack of understanding of GNU in Zanzibar, including the structural and responsibility of the government, especially at the grass root level. This is caused by lack of Civic education and understanding of Civic education, because the government is not able to provide the civic education to the Community and non governmental organizations.  There have not been sufficiently resources to spread the knowledge and awareness of civic education.  Lack of understanding by the politicians is an obstacle for the development of true peace and culture in Zanzibar.  There is a shortage of awareness of the leaders to mobilize the people in the politics system and development process of the community as the means of bring changes.

To build and recover the traditional culture and socialization in the Zanzibar community, our project focuses on ensuring that the community and society in general will recovery their traditional culture and socialization.   Under the single party system the society lived in harmony and love, allowing the development of the society and family in general, but with the arrival of the multiparty system the people lost their ability to recover their traditional civilized politics.

Our organization, the ZPTTA focuses on providing public awareness and sensitization of the people to support the policy efforts of the GNU on fighting against poverty, and for good governance, human rights and gender issues and development for Zanzibar. Harmony and good support should increase and return to Zanzibar as it was normally before the multiparty system around 1992.

The MKUZA, MKUKUTA and Millennium Development Goals {MDGs} insist on good governance and making sure the accountability and right ruling in the democracy system. Under MKUZA, the third cluster is on Good Governance and National Unity. The promotion of good governance includes both financial and non-financial aspects. The attributes of good governance include rule of law, public and personal security and capacity of Government institutions, leadership ethics, and participation in decision-making, accountability and transparency, which contributes to enhancing national unity. There must be effective, transparent and accountable use of resources in a fair and corruption free system. Stakeholders need to be well informed about policies and laws that are being implemented by the Government. Public access to information is a pre-requisite and catalyst for effective policy implementation, monitoring, evaluation and accountability. While all stakeholders expect the Government to be accountable, non-state actors will also be expected to demonstrate accountability to the people.

These programs do not only focus on peace keepers, who intervene after a conflict has erupted, but also on economic and social development, human rights, and the struggle to end world poverty and hunger. Indeed, all of the United Nations programs contribute directly or indirectly to the prevention of conflicts and thus to peace on earth. It is certainly true that, in the last 50 years, not everyone in the world has known peace, but it is gradually gaining ground. The dream of peace in the world is becoming less and less utopian and more and more attainable.

To build capacity on leadership on political system political tolerance and development, this organization must demonstrate, through concrete actions, the international community's will and determination to ensure that human rights are respected. Moreover, international conventions for human rights should be signed and ratified. For example, the "Declaration on the Right and Responsibility of Individuals, Groups and Organs of Society to Promote and Protect Universally Recognized Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms" was adopted by the General Assembly to protect the rights of children. It carries out both preventive initiatives to help promote the education of children in developing countries and protective actions to help children in times of war, when they are often the most vulnerable victims. Indeed, if the future is to be ensured, it is important that children be educated and not be mistreated. Children ensure a country's future. Ensuring that children are not mistreated helps both to develop a country's capacities and to prevent, as much as is possible, the outbreak of future conflicts.

It provides women in particular with all the necessary information and resources. This allows them in turn to make fully informed decisions and thereby contribute to a better management of the planet's population.

To mobilize the people and politicians to complete their commitment toward development transition, the reforms in the area of governance focus on instituting and enhancing participatory democracy, promoting tolerance and ensure political stability. All reforms in the area of governance have a bearing on both economic growth and improvement of social well-being. The majority of the people are not yet well informed about the reform and many see it as delaying the development, so the ZPTTA focuses on providing awareness and skills for sustainable peace and use of the GNU to fight poverty and develop political sustainability in Zanzibar, Tanzania and Africa in general. Through this project the program of ZPTTA plans to wake up the people about the GNU.
