This is a remarkable story of solidarity between Americans and Iraqis.  It illustrates something that I think is very important, that true solidarity needs to be mutual - not a one-way street from the "haves" to the "have nots," but a true exchange.  With this in mind it would be useful to know if there have been face-to-face meetings between the Americans and Iraqis involved, and if there is a long term development of communication between them.

I think that the Harvest Aid Project is an excellent indicator that American community projects can help those who are suffering in Iraq.  One must ask themselves, "What can be done and what is my role in doing so?"  There is absolutely no reason why that answer can't involve benefitting those who are suffering in overseas.
