There is a wonderful tradition of First Ladies working for a culture of peace, including that of Eleonor Roosevelt, who was a leading force for many years behind the process that led to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights at the United Nations.  I am told that there is a recent book about this, but I have not yet seen it.

Have Mrs. Mubarak and Mrs Sharon ever met?
Thank you for filling the gap which exists because our media is so chauvinistic. I will look at the web sites.

Revisiting the web site on the work of Suzanne Mubarak , known as SMWIPM, I am again impressed by her activities. I suggest reading her message on the UN International Day of Peace (Sept. 21,2005)

Eleanor Roosevelt was such an inspiring First Lady.
Does anyone know whether Laura Bush has done anything to support the culture of peace?  or Mrs. Putin, for that matter?
